Funding Interests

The Greygates Foundation was created in 2001 by J. Ronald Gibbs to provide grants to organizations that serve the needs of children, the elderly, the disabled, or the disadvantaged, and to organizations that promote animal welfare or wildlife preservation. Though funding may be provided for projects in any country, recipient organizations must be Canadian Registered Charities. The grant award limit is $3,000, and grants are paid in Canadian dollars. The Greygates Foundation grants are generally awarded to smaller nonprofit organizations, but are not limited to such organizations.

In 2015, the Foundation approved grants totaling $85,450, which were distributed as shown among the following program areas:

  • Children & Youth – 29%
  • Health – 18%
  • Human Services – 36%
  • Animal Welfare or Wildlife Preservation – 17%

Foundation Status

The Greygates Foundation functions as a donor advised fund of Vancouver Foundation, Vancouver, BC, Canada. The application process is not associated with Vancouver Foundation.
