Letter of Inquiry

Once you have determined that your request is consistent with the Trust’s guidelines by checking Alignment and Eligibility, the next step is to fill out an online Letter of Inquiry (LOI) through the Trust’s online grantee portal.

The LOI process helps organizations better allocate their valuable time and resources before submitting a proposal, and allows the Trust to concentrate on the priorities it has identified.

LOIs may be submitted at any time; there are no deadlines for their acceptance. Staff will review all LOIs and contact each applicant regarding the outcome. Typically, applicants will hear from a staff member within six weeks of the LOI submission. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a proposal and will receive proposal guidelines at that time. Applicants should not send a proposal unless invited to do so by Trust staff.

Applying online is easy, however, if you are unable to complete an online application, contact the Grants Manager for assistance.

Before starting the online application, we recommend that you review the Trust’s Alignment and Eligibility criteria. The Documents for Download section above contains budget templates and sample attachments.  Please note that although the content of most of the attachments is required, the use of our templates is optional.

To gain access to the LOI application, click on the Eligibility Quiz in the left margin.  You will be asked a series of questions to confirm that your organization and project meet the Trust’s guidelines before being directed to the online grantee portal.

The first time you access the online grantee portal, you will be asked to register for an online account. Trust staff will respond to your registration request within three business days, and you will receive confirmation and instructions, including your login credentials. Please save these credentials for future reference. This online account will allow you to save a partially completed application and return to finish it at a later time.

If your organization has submitted an application in the past and you want to submit a new LOI, click on the Eligibility Quiz in the left margin. If you successfully complete the Quiz, you will be directed to the online grantee portal.
